Holistic Psychiatry

What is Holistic Psychiatry?

Holistic psychiatry is a progressive and comprehensive approach to mental health care that combines conventional psychiatric treatments with complementary and alternative therapies.

I don’t just rely on conventional treatments; I believe in embracing the power of complementary and alternative therapies that resonate with your values and preferences. Together, we’ll explore various paths, including psychotherapy, medications if needed, lifestyle adjustments, mindfulness practices, and the impact of nutrition on your mental health.

At the heart of holistic psychiatry is the recognition that you are more than just your diagnosis; you are a complex and multifaceted person with unique experiences and strengths. I will help to empower you on this journey by considering the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors that shape your mental health.

Holistic psychiatry emphasizes treating the whole person and all the factors that influence your mental well-being. By integrating various therapeutic modalities, holistic psychiatry aims to provide personalized and effective solutions for individuals facing mental health challenges.

My goal is to co-create a treatment plan that speaks directly to your needs, providing you with the tools and support you require to overcome challenges and embrace a more fulfilling life.

With over two decades of experience, I have witnessed the transformative power of this approach, and can’t wait to embark on this journey of healing and growth with you. Together, we’ll discover the path that leads to your true well-being, honoring every aspect of who you are.

This approach acknowledges the uniqueness of each person and seeks to empower you on your journey towards mental and emotional wellness.

Effective Healing Traditions:

Holistic Psychiatry embraces the use of all effective and safe healing traditions, including medications, as it expands our toolkit so that treatment can be more effective, and offer you more choices that align with who you are.

If you’re only allowed ONE tool such as a hammer, while useful, how are you going to build things? It’s more effective if you have access to all the effective tools you need. Why not have all the tools at your disposal for you and/or your child’s mental wellbeing?

As an Integrative Psychiatrist, I use medications, talk therapies in a combination that work best for you, and biologically-based practices. I refer if you’re interested in Acupuncture, Naturopathy, Yoga, Reiki and so forth. I may also prescribe lab work to rule out chronic symptoms such as fatigue, headaches, unexplained pain that may be due to nutritional deficiencies and/or underlying medical conditions.

I will refer to your PCP if you’re found to have a thyroid issue, anemia, or any other significant medical issues.

What is a Multisystemic Approach?

In addition to using Rogerian, CBT, DBT, Structural Family, Motivational Interviewing and other therapeutic approaches that are focused on the individual and family, a multisystemic approach also looks into other systems that affect you and your family, and vice versa.

As we are all interconnected, which is the central tenet of a Multisystemic approach, we make sure that you, your family, extended family, work, school, community and environment are all optimized.

With over 20 years of experience, I draw upon the wisdom of my clients to create positive transformations for you and your family. Through a holistic and multi-systemic philosophy, we’ll address not only individual challenges but also extend the impact to your extended family, work, school, community, and environment.

Together, we’ll unlock your potential for lasting change, empowering you to navigate life’s complexities with resilience and create a brighter future for yourself and those around you.
